Boissevain studied at L'Academie des Beaux Arts, Paris and at the Central School of Arts and Crafts, London. Was awarded "Order of the British Empire" in 1978 for his services to the advancement of art, and has won numerous other awards including the Rubenstein portrait prize in 1961. His exhibitions, both solo and in conjunction with other artists, date back to 1964 and he's represented in such collections as the National Gallery of Australia, Canberra, Art Gallery of WA, Premier's Department Perth, Orion Bank London and Hong Kong, Alcoa Ltd., The Homes a Court Collection, Burswood Management Corporation, etc., and many private collections the world over.
Boissevain is a major investment artist. His landscapes, florals and portrait work are absolutely stunning and extremely collectable. A book on his work titled "William Boissevain: A Passion For Colour" published by the Beagle Press, Sydney, has over 100 colour plates and is well worth owning.
